Faith when things don't work out

Sometimes the things we strongly hope for don't eventuate. Trouble doesn't go away as we want it to. It feels difficult to trust that God is doing anything positive. We feel that God is, in fact, a million miles away. So what should we do?

Hang in during the tough times. Tim Hall once said, "You only keep what you hang on to in the tough times." He also stated "You only are what you are in the tough times."

Hmmm.

Faith in God

Proverbs 3:5-6 is my own definition of Faith in God.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him,  and He shall direct your paths. (Prov 3:5-6)
Why must I trust God?  Because "without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." (Hebrew 11:6)

Beginning the New Year

The following was taken from a New Year's speech by King George IV in a broadcast he made during the darkest days of World War 2.
And I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year: Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown. And he replied: Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God. That shall be to you better than light, and safer than a known way.
Solomon wrote it this way.
Prov 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,  and He shall direct your paths.

Frank Laubach

I've been reading the diary entries of this missionary to the Philipines. He had discovered a way to keep God in his thoughts every minute of his waking day. I'm challenged to copy this in my own walk with God.

Faith for Each Day

Living life by daily trusting in Jesus and practicing his presence is my goal for the coming year. This blog will be a diary of my experiences in this new adventure.
